Acens, founded in 1997, is a leading provider in Spain of hosting services for small and medium sized businesses. It offers services through its Datacentres of over 5,000m2 in Madrid and Barcelona, with a stable, regular portfolio of 50,000 clients.
Value contribution
- Implementation of the Business Plan, focusing on the main business lines where there was a strong potential for growth and abandoning the development of the VoIP business with high CapEx requirement.
- Incorporation of a new CEO to promote commercial activity and innovation.
- Acquisition of three competitors with the aim of (i) improving the position of Acens in mass market segments, incorporating 40,000 new clients key for future development; (ii) generating synergies, and (iii) guaranteeing operational leverage and improving the profitability of the company.
- Successful outsourcing of client service and implementation of CRM.
Divestment
In 2011, Nazca successfully sold Acens to Telefónica, which identified Acens as a strategic asset for developing its hosting and cloud services for Spanish SMEs.
