Nazca, Agromillora and Investcorp announce that they have reached an agreement for Investcorp to acquire a majority shareholding in Agromillora
NAZCA, AGROMILLORA and INVESTCORP today announced that they have reached an agreement for INVESTCORP to acquire a majority shareholding in AGROMILLORA for an undisclosed amount. Through this acquisition, the shareholding of the Company will be formed by INVESTCORP, the founders of the Company and its management team.
Founded in 1986 in Subirats (Barcelona), AGROMILLORA is the global leader in plant propagating services for the agricultural industry, with a special emphasis on woody species including olive, almond and other stone and seed fruit trees. In the 1990s and early 2000s, the Company was a pioneer in the production and commercialization of olive trees for intensive cultivation with ground-breaking technology applied to high density plantations, and since then it has also developed similar improvements for the cultivation of almond, citrus and other fruit trees.
Since then, AGROMILLORA has diversified its activity, supplying nurseries and producers around the world with a wide range of high quality seedlings through its in-vitro propagation laboratories on five continents, and has developed own patents of super intensive plantation models and products such as Rootpac®, Micrograft® and Smarttree®.
The growth experienced by AGROMILLORA in recent years is due to its constant innovation and notable R&D activity, as well as its international expansion in North and South America, Australia and the Middle East. Today, the Company has 11 production centres in 9 countries which serve over 300 nurseries and 1,500 producers in over 25 different countries, and employs over 1,300 people around the world. In 2016 the Company expects to produce and sell over 65 million plants around the world.
