PLD Space

2026

PLD Space is an independent Spanish rocket manufacturer and launch services provider, with proprietary technology, scalable industrial capabilities, and a strong positioning to become a leading player in the European light-launch segment to low Earth orbit (LEO).

Founded in 2011, PLD Space has established itself as a pioneering company in the European space sector, reaching a major milestone in 2023 with the successful launch of Miura 1, the first privately developed rocket fully designed and manufactured in Spain. This achievement validated the company’s technological, operational, and execution capabilities.

Following more than a decade of investment in R&D and infrastructure, the company is currently focused on the development of Miura 5, an orbital launcher designed to deliver payloads of up to 800 kg to LEO. Its maiden flight is scheduled for 2026, marking PLD Space’s transition into its commercialization phase.

PLD operates under a highly integrated industrial model (c. 90% vertical integration), maintaining in-house control over critical processes such as engine design and manufacturing, structural integration, validation, and testing. This approach mitigates technology risk, reduces critical dependencies, and limits cost overruns and scheduling slippage.

The company also benefits from a unique industrial infrastructure footprint in Europe, including an integrated manufacturing facility in Elche, testing facilities in Teruel, and strategic access to the Kourou launch base in French Guiana, which together represent a significant barrier to entry for new competitors.

The business plan envisages a progressive commercial ramp-up from 2026 onwards.
